Why CMYK for print?

Screens display colour using light (RGB). Printers mix inks (CMYK). Colours that look vivid on screen can shift when printed — especially bright blues and neons.

ICC-accurate conversion

This tool uses the CoatedFOGRA39 ICC profile — the same profile used in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for commercial print. Values match exactly what your printer will receive.

Total ink coverage

The sum of C+M+Y+K. Most commercial presses cap at 240–300%. Exceeding this can cause smudging and slow drying. Coated stocks allow up to 300%; uncoated 240%.

Rich black vs pure black

Pure black = C:0 M:0 Y:0 K:100. Rich black (C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:100) gives deeper appearance on large areas but can mis-register on fine text. Use pure black for type under 24pt.
