What is Pantone?
Pantone is a standardised colour matching system used in printing, product design, and brand identity. Each Pantone colour has a unique number and a precisely defined ink formula. Brand guidelines often specify Pantone colours for consistency across print jobs.
Pantone C vs U
Pantone "C" (Coated) colours are specified for glossy or coated stock — which is what most commercial printing uses. "U" (Uncoated) colours look slightly different on uncoated stock because the paper absorbs more ink. This tool shows Coated CMYK equivalents.
CMYK vs Pantone spot colour
CMYK mixing can only approximate Pantone colours — some (like fluorescents and metallic shades) can't be reproduced in standard CMYK at all. The values here are the closest achievable CMYK equivalent, not a perfect match. For exact Pantone matching, spot colour printing is required.
Using Pantone in Canva
Canva doesn't support Pantone directly. To use a Pantone colour in Canva, convert it to HEX using this tool and enter the HEX code in the Canva colour picker. Then check the result with our Colour Selector to confirm the printable CMYK equivalent.
