What is Spot UV

How do you prevent your printed marketing material being throwing in the bin? Simple… Make it stand out, and get them to look closer! Effectively adding SPOT UV to your design will make your cards sing.
Spot UV is a fantastic finishing that is effective and doesn’t break the bank. The cards are made by Full colour quality offset CMYK print, then laminated, then the Spot UV is applied. Spot UV is a clear gloss that goes down on top of the laminate. This allows the business card design to use certain areas glossy where the rest of the card is matt.
A common misconception is to just use the spot UV on top of the logo, or prominent printed artwork. Usually this method will not stand out as much as using ‘blind’ Spot UV of using a background pattern. Feel free to give us a call.. Spot UV Business Cards

Spot UV business cards are the most common ‘call to’ to add print finishing to a business card to make it stand out more. With the rise of ‘Scodix’ / raised UV, it is becoming less common, however it is still a far superior product. It has greater resolution and works with many more designs to ensure a quality and desired result.

Many designers will simply add the spot UV on top of the logo. In pour opinion, this rarely gives ‘bang for buck’ out of using spot UV. Call us to discuss your specific design and find out the potential you may be missing out of.

Spot UV + Embossing

Embossing can be added to the same artwork as Spot UV. Done right, this can create a very high-end card.
Just keep in mind, Embossing leaves a reverse impression on the back of the card.

Spot UV + Foiling

Although Spot UV cannot be used on the same artwork as Foil, using spot UV on the same side of a card as foil can create the best cards around.
